Life Happenings

I mentioned on my Insta Stories a few weeks ago that I was working on sharing my son Tristan’s story here on the blog. I have been sharing little snippets of what has been going on with him for a long time but I’ve never sat down and taken you through all that he has been through and what we are currently facing today. This February Tristan was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia a form of Cerebral Palsy. He was born with many adversities. I have been hesitant with how to share them here in this forum. While I find it very therapeutic to share and connect with those dealing with similar matters as a mother. I want to be delicate with sharing HIS story.

I had decided years ago I proably would keep most of it under wraps. But as I have shared more of the struggles he has had over the last year and a half. Ive been amazed at how our journey and his experinces have been helpful to others who are navigating the muddy waters of health and medication and all that goes with that. Likewise others sharing their journey has helped us find the right specialists and given us clear direction on more than one occasion. Those reasons propel me forward in sharing his journey.

Updates On Tristan

In short yes. I am working on his story. I have about 8 posts in various stages of completion. The bones of his story are in place. But to be honest its a very rough depiction and from a very medical stance. That isn’t how I really want to convey his journey. Its also been literally tiring to go back and retrace my memory and write it all down. He’s truly been through a lot. His journey has and is still very complex. I would even guess his set of medical anomalies are perhaps rare to all coexist together.

I also want to share his story in a way that doesn’t diminish his incredible spirit and personality. He is not a medical condition nor is he a series of medical anomalies. He is beautiful and wonderful and strong and I hope I can convey that in his story. All of this to say that its going to take longer to get this story written out. I needed to pull back and step a way from all the details and not get lost in it for now.

Where We Are Today

To this day things with him are still murky. We do not have all the answers to his health. He is still waiting to see more specialist as well as a geneticist. Something we’ve come to realize means waiting patiently for our turn. This I hope will help us further aid him to a full and rich life. One with less pain, less complications and a whole lot more fun! But for now it means a lot of appointments and check ins with various doctors.

Latest Diagnosis

In short I’ve come here today to share that we have recently learned more information. He had an MRI two weeks ago and the results were not what we hoped to hear. He has been diagnosed with a “mild” tethered spinal cord. You can read more about that HERE. For him it probably means surgery somewhere in the not too distant future. Something no one wants to deal with. We will meet with a pediatric neurosurgeon in the next few months to know what the game plan is.

In Conclusion

I am so thankful for those of you who have written and encouraged us through all this. I will soon share his story in more details. I also will continue to update you as we learn more. For now we are waiting. Getting accustomed to weekly physical therapy that unfortunately is an hour drive one way. Figuring out new medication for other things I’ve been hesitant to share. As well as really processing what information we have recently learned and what that means for Tristan. Its been a lot in a short period of time. I went into many of his appointments truly expecting to rule out suspicions. Not walk away with life altering diagnosis’s.

It has been humbling and faith strengthening as I’ve seen it all play out. How experiences and side notes from doctors years ago have led us to open doors we otherwise would not have. I know all will be well. I am thankful that even though the things we are learning are tough they are not worse.? Thank you for bearing with me as I sort it all out. I know all will be well and your kind words and prayers help me deal with it all better.

If you’ve made it this far thank you for reading! I hope you also enjoy these? quirky little bathroom printables as you get caught up to speed with Tristan. Thank you for supporting this blog. Just reading it makes an impact on our family! I am truly grateful for each and every one of you!
